Want to earn €100k+? In Norway, nearly half of seniors do

It's more common than you might think. €100,000 a year is about 1,090,000 NOK, and 23% of developers in Norway earn that or more: more than one in five. Among developers with three or more years of experience, it's 28%.

For senior developers it's close to a coin flip. 46% of those with eight or more years of experience earn over €100k, and after ten years it's more than half. Senior developers in Oslo (55%) and senior consultants (68%) are the most likely to get there, while seniors in the public sector rarely do (19%).

What it takes: a job at a consultancy or private product company, ideally in Oslo. With eight or more years of experience you need to be in the top half of earners to reach €100k, and the top two-thirds for $100k (about 960,000 NOK). With 3–7 years it takes a top 10% salary for €100k, or a top 20% salary for $100k.
